Pumpkin Patch

Warning: Picture Overload! I took over 90 pics on Saturday!

We went to the pumpkin patch last weekend! We had so much fun! We went to Dewberry Farm (dewberryfarm.com), it was our second year going there. We took my little sister Ally, Lily's friend Cameron, her little sister Samantha and her mom Christie. There is so much to do there! We got to the farm at 12 and left at 10...yep, 10 hours with plenty to do. They have a 16 acre pumpkin patch with pumpkins that you can cut off the vine. They also have a ton of pumpkins placed out there, along with gourds, squash and pie pumpkins. There is also a 7 acre corn maze. We didn't do the maze this year, because last year the little ones got a little scared not knowing where we were or how to get out.
The girls all trying to fit in the wagon together...Cameron and Lily telling us where we were going first... The duck races...Lily said she won every time, lol, competitive???Picking pumpkins, they were much more interested in taking home little pie pumpkins than a big one to carve, that was fine with me, less to carry...All the girls by the pond, this was at the beginning of the day and Lily was already tired of me taking pictures, I think she finally got the point that I wasn't going to stop and started giving in! Doesn't she know me by now?Feeding the donkey and the goats...Even though it has been record highs around here lately, it was a gorgeous day. Lily got a little cool at night after getting wet mining for gemstones (no pics of that, how did that happen?) but other than that it was great weather.Ally and Lily on the farmer flinger...The roller slide. This was so fun, you roll down and it's a bumpy ride. I rode down with Lily and we went so fast!
And the corn train...the driver was crazy, but the kids loved it and rode it over and over again!

Tired of pictures, or just plain tired?! 10 hours is a long time doing all this in these pics, plus much more I didn't even get pics of. The girls were never bored though and all passed out on the long ride home!

We will definitely be back at Dewberry Farm next year!

Concussion!

Yep, Lily has a concussion! Yesterday she and I were sitting at the kitchen table having lunch. Lily leaned back in her chair and fell straight back onto the ceramic tile floor. We have a high table and the chairs are more like bar stool height, so the fall was about 5 feet. OMG, she was in so much pain, her back was immediately bruised up, she could barely catch her breath! I called my mom who of course told me to take her to the ER, but I called her pedi instead who told me to bring her right in. On the way there she was complaining that her neck hurt and that she felt like she was going to throw up. By the time we got to the doctors office, her pupils were dilated, she was mumbling through her sentences, and acting very hyper (which is one symptom I had never heard of). She could not sit still, which was reassuring that nothing was broken. She had a knot on her back, along with lots of bruising and a knot on the back of her head. No broken bones, just a mild concussion. I had to wake her up every two hours last night, which annoyed her, but it was really just a nudge to get her to roll over, or do something. She was able to go back to school today, but I had to send a note to her teacher, just in case she started acting funny, the pedi said that could take a few weeks to get completely normal. She seems to be ok today, though her back is obviously sore.

Poor baby...poor mommy too, I was so scared! I'm just so thankful she is ok!

Proud Mommy...

I'm a proud mama today. This morning Lily told me that she is going to be doing Rise and Shine. Every morning at her school they gather in the cafeteria and go over the annoucements, birthdays for the day, they sing their school song, say their school creed, have a joke of the day, quote of the day, pledges, etc. Anyway, it's really cute! Well it is all student-led except for the annoucements that are done by the principal. The pre-Kers though, do not get to participate in the leading, is what I had been told by Lily and my little sister Ally. Well, Lily, not sure why or how she was picked, but she has been asked to help with a kindergarten class when it is their turn! She is reciting the school creed, which she has memorized. She is so excited, the only bad part, which she let me know about as soon as I picked her up today, is that she is missing recess to practice in the other classroom!

Something funny to add to this...at Open House a couple of weeks ago, Lily's teacher told me that she was her "super star" in the class, which I of course was very proud of. Apparently Lily overheard me telling, my mom, dad, sisters, friends, whoever, because today I was telling her how awesome that is that she was picked and the only one in her class doing R&S and she said, "yeah, I think they picked the super stars!" LOL

So yep, I'm excited...I'll post pics, not sure when her day is yet though.
